5S (Five S) is a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri , seiton , seisÅ , seiketsu , and shitsuke . These have been translated as "Sort", "Set In order", "Shine", "Standardize" and "Sustain". 5S describes how to organize a workspace to be efficient and effective by identifying and storing used items, maintaining space and objects, and maintaining new order.
